Description
Valtellina Superiore Valgella Riserva Carteria 2017 Sandro Fay
Variety: Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo) 100%
Pale ruby red with garnet veins
The nose is very intense, with numerous and wonderful aromas. The trace remains similar in all Fay wines, while what changes are the facets. Aromas of plum and wild berries follow one another, of red rose petals, while on the frame float aromatic herbs, a distinctive feature of the Nebbioli grown in Valtellina. The notes of toasted, spices and roots increase the complexity of a more than fascinating wine.
On the palate it relaxes with grace and envelops the palate in an ideal gentle embrace. Supported by well-defined tannins, however well-mannered, it has the secret of harmony in the sum of softness. The balance of the parts confirms the value and the excellent score.
Valtellina of excellent quality. It is a perfect interpretation of Nebbiolo della Valtellina.
Valtellina Superiore Valgella Riserva Carteria 2017 Sandro Fay
Sandro Fay, cultivates the grapes in the vineyard that historically belonged to the family, west of Teglio in the Valgella sub-area.
Surface: the vineyard extends for 3 hectares, while the average altitude is 500 meters above sea level.
The soil is mostly sandy, then loamy and clayey.
The training system is espalier with guyot pruning with a yield per hectare of 40 hectoliters.
After harvesting, carried out manually towards the end of October, once in the cellar, the grapes are rasped and alcoholic fermentation is started in stainless steel containers.
It carries out the malolactic transformation and refines part in 30-hectolitre oak barrels, and part in 500-liter oak tonneaux for at least one year. It further improves in the bottle for another 12 months.
