Description
Valcalepio Rosso del Lupo 2017 Tosca
Variety: Merlot 70% and Cabernet Sauvignon 30%
Certified organic
Slightly dull ruby red color.
On the nose it is the only Valcalepio to show off this carat of aromas, with currant, raspberry, plum and subtle but effective spicy notes. The notes of Mediterranean scrub, aromatic herbs and green pepper follow.
On the palate it is balanced, by virtue of the classic minerality extracted from Pontida’s Flysh, and a well-defined freshness. The creaminess expressed by the softness is also excellent, for a wine as a whole more than satisfactory. The aromas are of wild berries, aromatic herbs and blueberry.
Great lombard red wine.
Valcalepio Rosso del Lupo 2017 Tosca
Tosca produces its Valcalepio from grapes from the Cà del Lupo vineyard, in the municipality of Pontida in the province of Bergamo.
Soil: it consists of limestone-clayey rock from the Cretaceous period and a particular type of Lombard Flysh, that of Pontida. The flysh is composed of sedimentary deposits formed in the marine environment.
Altitude: it is 370 meters above sea level,
The training system is partly espalier with guyot pruning and partly with spurred cordon, with a density of 5000 plants per hectare and a yield of 60 quintals.
After the harvest carried out manually, the alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature.
Refine for 7 months in steel and for 12 months in 500-liter oak tonneaux.
The Tosca company cultivates the vine and vinifies the grapes produced following the dictates of organic agriculture. The vineyards are in Pontida, in the westernmost part of the Valcalepio appellation. Valcalepio Denomination extends and embraces almost the entire province of Bergamo from east to west. From Sarnico on Lake Iseo, up to Pontida. In its extension from east to west, consequently there are non-homogeneous soils, which give different facets to the different wines.
