Description
Terre del Colleoni Merlot Driade Felice 2017 Le Driadi
Variety: Merlot 100%
Organic pending certificate.
Many of the principles of biodynamics follow.
The grapes that make up the Merlot Driade Felice, are harvested from a part of the Driade vineyard, where the soil, the sun exposure, the slope, and all those factors that together enclose the word Terroir, are different from the rest of the vineyard.
We are in the municipality of Palazzago in the remote locality of Capietaglio. To the west of the province of Bergamo, above the municipality of Pontida.
Vineyard was planted in 2000, abandoned in 2010, and recovered by Luciano and Gabriella, the current owners, in 2014.
The plants, therefore, are 18 years old, while the solar exposure is to the south east.
The training system is spurred cordon, but transformed into a sapling.
Given the slope, around 50% on average, the harvest could only be carried out by hand. Started and ended October 3, 2017. The altitude varies from 380 to 440 meters above sea level.
The yield per hectare is 50 quintals.
Fermented in stainless steel with temperature control, using indigenous yeasts.
It refines in the same containers for a minimum period of six months. Bottled in April 2018.
Terre del Colleoni Merlot Driade Felice 2017 Le Driadi
Ruby red with a medium load.
The nose has precise, clean and well distinguishable aromas of fruit and berries. Blackberry, blueberry and cherry. Follow the hints of undergrowth, carob and spices. Taken together, the aromas are well-made, and even intriguing, a clear symptom of healthy grapes, treated with great care.
On the palate it shows remarkable structure, with acidity and minerality in evidence. The tannic texture is present, but really gentle, so the fruit was caught at full phenolic maturity reached. Good softness, for a wine that is highly gastronomic as a whole, that is, to drink while accompanying food, and easily matched to different dishes.
