Overall it is an excellent interpretation of Pinot Noir and not only from the Loire.

Sancerre Rouge Frétoy 2019 Tinel-Blondelet

They did not want to adopt the protocols of organic viticulture, because the high humidity intrinsic to the Loire would have required massive interventions with copper, which in the long run pollutes and damages the soil, since 2014 their vines have the HVE Haute Valeur Environnementale Certification (High value environmental). This certification, recognized by the French Ministry of Agriculture, guarantees the efforts of Annick and Marlène in wanting to preserve the environment in the best possible way.

Annick Tinel-Blondelet has been running the Domaine since 1983, the year in which he obtained his diploma in Oenology in Beume. Annick becomes the twelfth generation of the family’s winemakers. Their story begins with Guillaume Blondelet, a winemaker in Chaulgnes, at the end of the sixteenth century. On the Camille side, the traces of the family’s first winemakers date back to 1650 with Louis Figeat. Recently, the daughter Marlène has also joined in the management, which consequently represents the thirteenth generation.

Today the estate extends over 15 hectares of vineyards spread over three appellations: Pouilly Fumé, Sancerre and Pouilly sur Loire.

They exclusively grow three varieties, Sauvignon Blanc, Chasselas and Pinot Noir, on three different soils: The marls of the Kimmeridgian period, Villiers limestone and silica.

The grapes that make up the Sancerre Rouge Frétoy Tinel-Blondelet are grown in a 1.25-hectare vineyard, located in the municipality of Thauvenay.

Sun exposure: it is south southwest, while the plants have an average age of 40 years.

The Soil: is composed of layers of limestone and silica.

Density and yield: it is 6400 plants and 40 hectoliters per hectare

After the harvest, the grapes arrive in the cellar. Once the free-run must is separated from the pressed, they are fermented separately at a temperature ranging between 28 and 32 ° C. The must ferments for 2 weeks with a daily pumping over. After the assembly of the two musts, the malolactic transformation takes place.

Depending on the vintage, it ages for 1/3 of the mass in second and third passage barriques.
