Variety: Nebbiolo 100%
Ruby red color, with garnet veins.
The nose has classic aromas of plum, black cherry and aromatic herbs. ; they follow the classic scents of rhubarb, and wild berries. Together the perfumes are classic, well defined and clean.
On the palate it has an excellent balance between hardness and softness. Valuable is the material of which it bears, for the volume of the truly remarkable sip. The 2012 vintage was excellent and the result are elegant wines, with a long capacity to refine over time.
Great example of Nebbiolo from Upper Piedmont, able to combine power and elegance.
Lessona 2012 Tenute Sella
The vineyards that make up the Lessona are all in the municipality of Lessona. The average altitude is 300 meters above sea level, while sun exposure varies from South – East to South – West.
Average age of vines: 55 years.
Soil: orange and yellow marine sands.
Training system: espalier with guyot pruning
The harvest began on 22 September and ended on 15 October. It is carried out manually to perform the first quality sorting of the berries.
Once in the cellar the grapes are subjected to a second sorting, to save only the perfect berries. Then the alcoholic fermentation begins in stainless steel containers. It extends for 24 days with frequent pumping over and delestage.
In the spring following the harvest it is decanted in Slavonian oak barrels of 25 hl, where it carries out the malolactic transformation and is refined for 24 months.
