Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Reasoned agriculture
Ladoix aoc is a denomination of the Côte de Beaune. Geographically it is located to the north of the municipality of Ladoix-Serrigny, while to the west there is the Aloxe-Corton hill with all its prestigious Grand Cru including Cortogne-Charlemagne and Corton, they are administratively part of the municipality. The eastern part of the hill becomes Ladoix-Serrigny aoc, with two Grand Cru: Les Vergennes and Le Rognet Corton and eleven premier cru.
The grapes come from a vineyard 240 meters above sea level, with clayey and calcareous soil.
Training system: Against espalier with guyot pruning.
Harvest: it is done manually in 20 kg perforated boxes, with careful selection of the grapes.
Fermentation: cold maceration for ten days, followed by alcoholic fermentation for a variable period depending on the vintage, from 20 to 40 days, with frequent pumping over and punching down.
It ages in French oak barrels (228 liters), 20% new, for a period that always varies according to the vintage between 12 and 15 months.
Ladoix Pinot Noir 2017 Domaine Cruchandeau
Ruby red color with garnet shadows.
On the nose it shows the whole class of Pinot Noir in its land of choice. It has intense, complex and fine aromas of berries, with red currant, cherry, black cherry and pomegranate. Follows the delicate rose and sweet spicy notes of vanilla, nutmeg, juniper and toasted ones of pipe tobacco and the unlit fireplace.
On the palate it is of the exact same elegance. Excellent structure with well-defined tannins however mature and not very pungent, and adequate minerality and acidity. Softness not only compensates, but gives volume to the sip. Consequently balanced and in harmony among all its parts. The aromas, that is, the aromas that emanate from the palate and go back to the nose, are of berries and spices.
In the complex of the three aspects Julien Cruchandeau designs a Fabulous Pinot Noir, extremely indicative of the variety and the region of origin.
Excellent value for money, because the quality is that of a Premier Cru.
