Barolo Riserva 7 anni 2007 Pianpolvere Soprano Bussia
Variety: 100% Nebbiolo
The vineyard is located in the Bussia area in Monforte d’Alba. In total there are 6 hectares in Nebbiolo da Barolo in a single plot. The exposure is south-south west at an average altitude of 400 m. Above sea level.
The soil composition is calcareous, with alternate compact layers of marl and sandstone of the first geological conformation, belonging to the Helvetian period.
The sixth plant has a number of 4000 vines per hectare and the average yield is at most 55 quintals of grapes per hectare.
The cultivation follows the lines of biodynamic inspiration. The natural competition between plants is facilitated, and a spring water vein creates within the vineyard the natural habitat for many varieties of insects, insectivorous birds and bats.
In the vineyard, from winter pruning, tillage of the land, until the harvest, only manual interventions are carried out.
Barolo Riserva 7 anni 2007 Pianpolvere Soprano Bussia
The Pianpolvere denomination dates back to the late 1700s when Napoleon Bonaparte, who arrived in Piedmont for the first campaign in Italy, built a powder keg on this plot. In the following epoch, after the definitive defeat of Napoleon, like all the land in the area, it became ecclesiastical property.
In 1850, following the promulgation of the Siccardi law, the Kingdom of Sardinia expropriated these lands from the clergy, making them available for purchase by those who decided to ignore the papal excommunication, which fell on the buyer. It was natural that they were entrepreneurs of Jewish faith to take advantage of the availability of these goods, taking them over as a whole and selling them fractionally.
After several changes of ownership, in the early 1900s it became the property of the Fenocchio family, who dictated its use until 1968. Since 1998 it has been owned by the Migliorini family, already producers in Monforte d’Alba.
