Barolo Cerretta 2013 Ettore Germano
Variety: Nebbiolo 100%
Grapes, that make up this Barolo are harvested in a single vineyard, called Cerretta. The same is one of the most famous vineyards in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba.
The surface is 2 hectares, while the orientation is south, south east and the altitude varies from 350 to 370 m.s.l.m.
Soil: it is clayey with a notable presence of limestone.
Older plants over 40 years old.
The plant density foresees 4,200 plants per hectare, with a consequent average yield of 50 quintals per hectare.
Harvest: done manually, it begins in the second half of October.
Alcoholic fermentation is in contact with the skins for about 25 – 30 days depending on the different vintages. Several pumping over operations are carried out per day.
Once fermentation is complete, the malo-lactic transformation is expected, and after the first racking, aging begins. 24 months in 225, 500 and 700 liter French oak barrels. For 20% the barrels are new. After bottling it remains in the bottle in cool cellars for a further 18 months.

Garnet red, with light orange reflections.
The nose has aromas of ripe fruit from the stem and small berries. After moving the glass, the plum, cherry, blackberry and raspberry arrive. Then vanilla and nutmeg. Leather, tobacco and undergrowth. The land and porcini mushrooms, rhubarb and chinotto.
On the palate it is even exciting. Beautiful structure with excellent shape and splendid substance, they draw a truly fascinating set. The tannins, typical of the grape are easily perceivable, but nevertheless ripe and not excessively astringent. The sweetness that the alcoholic degree brings, together with the glycerins, bring everything back into balance.
Aromas of bittering substances arrive at the nasal receptors, after letting it flow into the throat.
It can happily accompany various dishes, from game to stewed beef or grilled. Actually being a great wine, the rest can only accompany. Once drunk it remains imprinted.
One of the best Baroli wines of 2013, which being a great vintage, in perspective makes it become one of the best Baroli wines ever.
