Description

Lugana Sant’Onorata 1953 2020 Nunzio Ghiraldi

Variety: Turbiana 100%

Straw yellow in color.

On the nose it pushes its class to the supreme level. Intense and well declined in multiple facets, it is adorably complex. The scents are punctual in their fragrance, with apricot, white peach and mango. Followed by floral notes with gentle tones, citrus peel and subtle notes of mile of black locust. Also in this vintage the marine features underline the importance of age in a unique terroir.

On the palate it has an excellent volume supported by warmth and creaminess. At the same time freshness and minerality give it a structure capable of lengthening for many years to come. The aromas captured by the nasal receptors are of seaweed, locust honey, and mimosa.

Overall we are faced with a great interpretation of Lugana, which manages to stand out, year after year, for Elegance with a capital Elle.

Lugana Sant’Onorata 1953 2020 Nunzio Ghiraldi

Nunzio Ghiraldi farm extends for about 20 hectares of vineyards, around the winery, in Lugana di Sirmione, in the absolute best area for the production of Lugana. The extreme proximity of the vineyards to Lake Garda gives the grapes all the benefits of the mild climate that is created in the area.

Soil: it is composed of predominantly calcareous layered white clay, created during the last glaciation, the Wurmiana. When the retreat began, the friction created by the slowly moving glacier crumbled the stones and shaped that very particular clay that makes up over 50% of the soil and finally Lake Garda. In the subsoil we also find a notable presence of mineral salts.

The training system is counter-espalier with guyot pruning with double inverted arch.

The vines are older than 60 years.

Harvest: it is carried out exclusively by hand, and the grapes are pressed whole with the presence of the rachis.

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers with strict temperature control.

Refine in the same stainless steel containers for at least 1 year and at least 3 more in the bottle before reaching the market.
