Description

Dolomiti Solaris Sisyphos Cucol 2020 Kollerhof

Variety: Solaris 100%

From Certified Organic Agriculture

Straw yellow color.

The nose has head aromas of flowering meadows, elderberries and citrus fruits. Turning the glass also come the notes of fresh fruit and the much more fascinating sensations reminiscent of the sea, and its brackish. That scent that enhances the coves and small coves in the jagged and rocky coasts.

On the palate, although it does not naturally have a capacity to develop high acidity, it is perceivable correctly. For the hardness, the features of minerality are clearly distinguishable. The shape shows itself in excellent sprinkling, and together with a voluminous sip, which gives value to the substance, we can confirm the excellent success of this high altitude wine.

Perfect execution of South Tyrolean white wine, with fresh and clean aromas and rich and mineral palate.

Dolomiti Solaris Sisyphos Cucol 2020 Kollerhof

Solaris is a grape variety called PIWI (acronym for PilzWiderstandsfähige), which in German means “resistant to attack by fungi”, born in Germany in 1975.

The vine varieties resistant to cryptogams (PIWI) find their origin in the crosses between the Euro-Asian varieties of wine vine (Vitis Vinifera) and some American vine varieties, naturally resistant to Downy mildew and Powdery mildew: Vitis Labrusca, Vitis Berlandieri , Vitis Rupestris, Vitis Riparia.

These experiments began in France in the 1880s, but it was in the 1970s that Germany had the best results in terms of quality.

In technical detail, Solaris is the result of the cross between Merzling (Seyve -Villard 5,276 x (Riesling x Pinot Gris) with the variety 6,493 Gm (Severa Zarya x Muscat Ottonel). Initially named Fr 240-75, it is currently very more prosaically called Solaris.

It adapts perfectly to the harsh climate, and being naturally resistant to powdery mildew, Downy mildew and Botrytis, it does not require any treatment.

The Visintin family, owners of the Maso Kollerhof, planted it in Anterivo at 1100 meters above sea level, in a remarkably sloping vineyard called Cucol (or Guggol).

After the harvest, the grapes carry out alcoholic fermentation and subsequent maturation in stainless steel containers. Aging is on the fermentation lees for over 8 months.
