The vineyards of San Sebastiano allo Zoppo stand on a single hill planted since 1436, located in the highest part of the municipality of Lessona. The average altitude is 330 meters above sea level, while the sun exposure is south-west.
Average age of the plants: 75 years.
Soil: orange and yellow marine sands.
Training system: espalier with guyot pruning
The harvest begins in the first half of October. It is carried out manually to perform the first quality sorting of the berries.
Once in the cellar the grapes are de-stemmed and the alcoholic fermentation begins in stainless steel containers. It extends for 25 days with frequent pumping over and delestage.
In the spring following the harvest it is decanted in Slavonian oak barrels of 25 hl, where it carries out the malolactic transformation and is refined for 24 months. A further 12 months in Allier oak tonneaux complete its aging in wood.

Ruby red color with noticeable orange areas
The nose has intense and exuberant aromas of aromatic and officinal herbs, wild berries and rhubarb. Followed, only in enunciation order, the ripe plum, iridescent in jam and the sour cherry in spirit. Even notes of woods, leaves and moss increase its complexity
On the palate it is rich, plentiful and extremely elegant. In perfect and wonderful balance between hardness and softness, it has a great quality in the mouth. The tannins still emerge among the rest, but are now blunt with time, so as to be not only pleasant.
Overall it is a grand interpretation of Nebbiolo from the Alto Piemonte, although not in absolute purity.
